My organisation is about to extend c.Support to other IT groups in our organisation. Almost all of the groups that have been listed to use c.Support have large asset holdings and the details of these assets are contained in spreadsheets. All groups that I have undertaken a needs analysis with have had one complaint about the c.Support application. They all would like an easy way of importing their existing legacy asset data into the c.Support asset database.
Another issue is maintenance of the current c.Support asset database. The current database lists over 2000 assets spread around the country. We get each location to undertake periodic audits using spreadsheets exported out of c.Support. The changes get manually entered back into c.Support. We would find it a much more workable system if we could export specific asset data out of c.Support, do the audit, then import the new data back into the c.Support asset database.
I am aware that this type of native import/export functionality is available in other helpdesk systems. I have previously used Remedy and this is standard functionality available within the application.
I am interested to how other c.Support users bring import legacy asset data of into c.Support or what procedures they use to undertake periodic audits of there existing c.Support asset database.
